CLAREMONT KIWANIS KEY CLUB AND CIRCLE K SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMS
1. California-Nevada-Hawaii (CNH) District Scholarships. Available to both Key Club. KIWINS, and Circle K members. Applicants submit their applications directly to the CNH Foundation online without going through the club. Deadline in the past has been mid-February. For more information, go to http://www.cnhfoundation.org/what-we-do/scholarships-leadership-training/scholarship-program/. Expect new deadlines to be published in January.
2. Robert A. Headland Scholarship (Division 15). This scholarship is a one-time award with no renewals. Each club in Division15 may submit one official Headland application. Scholarship recipients are selected by the Past Division Lieutenant Governors, who also determine the amount of the award. Notification to an awardee is done by the sponsoring Kiwanis club. Applicants do not need to be members of Circle K or Key Club, but membership is considered a plus. Claremont Kiwanis will consider applications from seniors at either Claremont or San Antonio High School and from students at the Claremont Colleges. The club’s Scholarship Committee determines which student best fits the criteria through an interview process. Completed applications have a deadline date of late February for submission to the club Foundation. For more information, including this year's submission date, and an application, click here.
3. Stan Larson Scholarship (Kiwanis Club of Claremont Foundation). This scholarship program is administered by the club’s foundation and is named for Stan Larson, a former editor of the Claremont Courier and a longtime member of Claremont Kiwanis. The club awards new scholarships a year to graduating seniors from Claremont High School and/or San Antonio High School. These scholarships are renewable annual for a period up to four years. The present annual award is $750, making the full value of the scholarship $3,000, provided the recipient stays in school, is pursuing an accredited course of study, and provides documentation of that course of study and enrollment for all four years of the scholarship. Applications will normally be available in late February, with a submission deadline in mid-April and interviews in late-April. As with the Headland Scholarship, applicants for a Larson Scholarship need not be members of Key Club, but membership is considered a plus.
